How to get sizes right when ordering t-shirts for your whole team
Wrong sizes are the most common problem with team apparel orders: a pile of unclaimed XLs and a few people with nothing that fits. It is easy to avoid with a little planning.
1. Ask everyone, do not estimate
Send a simple form or spreadsheet with three columns: name, size and fit (men's or women's). Give people two or three days to reply, and share the size chart with the form.
2. Share the actual size chart
Sizes vary between brands, so "I'm usually an L" is not enough. Ask for the size chart of the exact style you are ordering, and tell people to compare it with a t-shirt they already like, measured flat across the chest.
3. Offer a women's fit
Unisex sizing is cut for men and fits most women poorly. Polos and tees in women's fits are available, for example the Women's Fitted Polo. They look much better and make it more likely the uniform actually gets worn.
4. Order a few spares
New joiners, wrong guesses and the inevitable "I forgot to fill the form" mean a small buffer is worth it. Spread the spares across the most-requested sizes rather than adding them all as L or XL.
5. Remember the price difference for larger sizes
Most of our styles run from S to 3XL. Sizes 2XL and above cost ₹50 more per piece because they use more fabric, so include them in your budget.
6. Mixing sizes and colours is fine
The 25-piece minimum is per design, not per size or colour. One order of 40 polos can be split across sizes and across colours of the same style.
A simple size-collection template
| Name | Fit | Size | City / office |
|---|---|---|---|
| Employee name | Men's / Women's | S / M / L / XL / 2XL / 3XL | For split deliveries |
Send us the totals per size when you ask for a quote. The catalog quote form has a size-split section for exactly this.
How to measure a t-shirt you already own
- Lay a t-shirt that fits well flat on a table.
- Measure straight across the chest, 2.5 cm (1 inch) below the armpits, from edge to edge.
- Measure the length from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
- Compare both numbers with the size chart of the style you are ordering, and pick the closest size.
This takes two minutes and is far more reliable than "I'm usually an L".
Distribution day tips
- Ask for packing by size. Sorted, labelled cartons make distribution quick.
- Keep the size list with names and tick people off as they collect.
- Set aside the spares immediately for exchanges and late joiners.
- For several offices, send city-wise size totals so each location gets the right mix.
Reordering for new joiners
Keep your order details: style, colour, logo position and the final approved sample. That makes top-up orders for new joiners straightforward and keeps everyone's uniform identical.
Common sizing mistakes
- Ordering everything in M, L and XL "to be safe".
- Forgetting women's fits.
- Not mentioning layering for hoodies and jackets.
- Collecting sizes after placing the order.
